Is there snow on your softball field? Is the infield clay frozen? You don't have to let your team's infielder development be slowed down by the cold weather! In this instructional video, DMACC's Bob Ligouri will show you how to develop infielders indoors.

Throwing

Start by learning the throwing mechanics to keep your infielders' arms safe and healthy in a six-drill throwing progression. You'll see how to progressively work the throwing motion backwards from release, starting with wrist snaps. Coach Ligouri's progression shows how to gradually add in work for the whole body and build up to a strong throwing motion.

Fundamentals and Catching

Whether it's a hot shot or a slow roller, your players will learn the body positioning, footwork, and glove work to put them in the best position to be successful. Fundamentally sound infielders will make fewer errors and get more put-outs!

Drills

Put it all together with six drills to test your infielders. You'll see how to implement Ligouri's Shag Drill to have your fielders hit to each other and work on bat control for hitting, in addition to fielding skills. Extend your infielders' range with the Okie Drill, and work on reaction time with 2-Ball Reaction.

This video will give you many infielder drills you can use right away in your indoor practices. Coach Ligouri covers all of the basics of infield development, from throwing and catching, to reaction and range drills. When the weather gets nasty and your team is forced indoors, you don't have to miss a beat!
